Please, be friendly with forest. Don't purchase hard wood furniture manufactured from illegally felled lumber or made from lumber of unknown origin. Hard wood deforestation has scarred vast tracts of Tanzania in recent decades and has caused social, economic and enviromental consequences for local populations and the accelleration of global warming.
Avoid plastic materials and keep your use of plastic bag and packaging to a minimum.
Tanzania does not have the facilities or the capacity to engage in mass recycling, so this means that plastic waste is usually buried. Plastic bag can take hundreds of years to break down. Considering shopping with a cotton carry bag, or re-use a plastic bag.
Do not buy sea shells, coral or animal parts (rinho and elephant tusks/or lion, leopard skin/claws) wich are likely to be obtained illegaly or wich are sold illegaly.

what you will do
Marangu it is the most popular way up Mountain Kilimanjaro. This could partly be as a result of the fact that it is possible to do the Marangu route in 5 days, thereby getting to the summit one day earlier than on the Machame route. All your equipment and supplies are portered and a cook prepares all your meals.
detailed itinerary
DAY 1: Marangu Gate (1980m) - Mandara hut (2700m)
After breakfast, transfer to Marangu gate and start the climb through fascinating rain forests till you reach the first hut Mandara. Meals and overnight at the hut. (9,000ft).
DAY 2: Mandara hut (2700m) - Horombo hut (3720m)
After breakfast, follow the ascending path through the alpine – meadow. The altitude begins to change and slowdown your pace while enjoying the flora and the view of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Arrive at the Horombo Hut 12km from Mandara. Meals and overnight at the hut. (12,520ft).
DAY 3: Horombo hut (3720m) - Kibo hut (4700m)
After breakfast, resume the climb, the landscape becomes rugged and rocky. Lobelias begin to appear. Climb to Kibo Hut. Meals and overnight at the hut. (15,520ft)
DAY 4: SUMMIT ATTEMPT!! Kibo hut (4700m) - Uhuru Peak (5895m) - Horombo hut (3720m)
The beginning of the last ascent is made in the wee hrs of the morning while the scree is still frozen. Climb the very steep part of the route to GILMANS POINT (most difficult and tiring part). UHURU PEAK is reached within an hour's walk along the crater rim. (19,344ft). Start the walk along the craters rim. (19,344ft). Start the descent to Horombo hut for overnight
DAY 5: Horombo hut (3720m) - Marangu Gate (1980m)
Return to a hotel in Moshi/Arusha. After lunch, have a good rest, meals and overnight at your hotel.
DAY 6: After breakfast, depart for your next destination, which is optional, either safari, airport or shuttle to Nairobi.

Mt Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa, one has to be physically fit to perform the same to the top of the pick. But it is so wonderful when one manages to climb the mountain up to it’s highest point-the Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters above the sea level, it takes between 6 and 8 days to guide a tourist up the mountain and back. This involves a lot of energy and one has to be very firm to be able to do this kind of work, in spite of the difficulty of their work, most tour guides and porters are underpaid. Most tour companies pay their guides less than the rates recommended by the government through the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism which is 20 US dollars (30,000/-).
