who are we
In 1998 Markus Peschke, the founder of Tiger Trail needed to follow his own spirit of adventure. A trip to Laos gave him a new vision. Braving the tangles of red tape, he opened the Indochina Spirit Restaurant in Luang Prabang. The restaurant has become well known to locals and tourists which was hard work in the end...and not what Markus was looking for in the beginning and in Laos.

He has always loved exploring the remote areas of Northern Laos, and started than to create therapeutic and unique eco-tours to share with others. In the beginning a way to get out of work the idea was more and more accepted from visitors and companies...so Tiger Trail Outdoor Adventures came up. From that time the love for Laos was getting even bigger and more intense as he and his team were discovering more remote and interesting activities.
Since its inception, Tiger Trail Outdoor Adventures has specialized in small group tours. Their vision is to provide unique eco-adventure excursions to individuals who wish to experience Lao life and culture, and are willing to respect the ecology, tradition, and culture of the region.
Tiger Trail Outdoor Adventures is a co-operative effort with the Lao people. Creating jobs and locally owned support businesses has been a primary goal from the start. Through these efforts, Tiger Trail has the respect of the people of Northern Laos, and this respect will be evident in the quality of your trip.

Today Tiger Trail Outdoor Adventures is the oldest and most copied Eco Tour and adventure tour provider in northern Laos and can really say "...sharing experience". Come, experience and join our team for some lifelong travel experience in the nature and with the people of Laos!

what you will do
Cooking Lao-style always means using fresh ingredients, some intriguing and with unfamiliar flavours. Well start with a visit to the major food market, where well take you round and explain what they are and what they are used for.

Then well take you to our sala, a beautiful local style hut overlooking the Nam Khan river where you will prepare, cook and have fun:

Varieties of jeow:
the fundamental flavourful Lao spicy dipping sauces

Mok Pa , a popular dish of fish steamed fragrantly in banana leaves
Koy , a salad of buffalo meat minced with herbs (sometimes described as laap)
Tamarinds speciality: delicious lemongrass stuffed with chicken & herbs
Orlarm , Luang Prabangs signature dish with some unusual ingredients!

And of course we will teach you the art of preparing sticky rice to perfection, as well as the etiquette associated with eating it...

cooking class Luang Prabang You will hand pound all your ingredients in a mortar & pestle, and cook many of the dishes over an open fire. You will customize dishes to your taste, making them authentically local, or tailored for easy preparation at home.
