The Kingfisher Ecolodge is located just outside the village of Ban Khietngong, in the protected area of Xe Pian. The wooden bungalows on stilts are furnished with traditional fabrics and materials, have toilet and shower (shared for eco room) with hot water powered by solar energy. Each bungalow has a spacious veranda with independent hammock and offers a splendid view of the opposite wetland. The lodge has a restaurant and bar with panoramic views. The owners of the lodge are working closely with local villagers to help promote ecotourism in the area.

The beautiful eco bungalows, surrounded by lush flora of this particular area, built with wood and bamboo, are on stilts and have access to a bathroom and a spacious veranda overlooking the wetlands of the Xe Pian NPA.

Simplicity, with this principle in our mind, we have tried to link the environment with buildings that make up the resort, giving priority to the environment and seeking the right balance between human intervention and the wonderful architecture of nature.

We would like to demonstrate how it is often possible to change some, if not all, of our daily habits (whether in business or in private life) in order to respect more the environment that surrounds us, as well as help people who do not yet have at its available those basic needs that we, in the western world take for granted as part of the standard of living (health care, potable water, electricity and basic education for our children to name a few).

who are we

We Massimo (Italian) and Bangon (On), Laotian by birth, married since 1997. We decided to call our resort "Ecolodge", because we believe it is possible to run a business in a sustainable manner, with the hope of being an example for all those who will follow us in this field. Before and during construction of the lodge we have been closely following the local customs (such as ceremonies to appease the spirits and so on) as a form of respect. Written directions are given to our guests, in order to avoid possible conflicts or offensive acts to the local population.
