what you will do

The duration of this classic tour is usually 14/15 days but we can also prepare a tour package that meets your specific requirements and days available. For this you have to mail us indicating the days available and we will prepare the package. In this case the price may vary. We have listed here some of our other packages of different duration and relative prices per pax.
The minimum participants must be 2 pax and the maximum around 8/10 persons.
It is our policy not to mix different groups, so that your tour will be quite personalized.

The tour programme includes 7/8 days cultural tour to explore the beauty of this country and to visit most important places of interest from the cultural and religious points of view, followed by one week's beach holiday with guided visits in the evenings to nearby attractions. For the tour we have selected good quality hotels with swimming pools and international buffet in order to offer you maximum comfort and satisfaction.
You can start the tour upon arrival directly and subsequently do the beach holiday or vice versa on your preference, but we prefer and advise to do the tour first and then the beach holiday as it relaxes you more before returning back to your country. For the tour we provide you a very comfortable car/van or minibus with air-conditioning.

During the beach holiday period, the mornings are dedicated to visit nearby different beaches and in the evenings there will be guided visits to see the attractions in and around Galle city. During this period you will be accommodated in our Palm Garden Resort at Ahangama Tourist Zone with all facilities to make your holiday as comfortable as possible. The principal meals are provided in restaurants of tourist hotels and typical local restaurants in order to give you an opportunity to taste the local cuisine including fresh sea food. We would provide bottled water in these occasions but no alcoholic drinks are provided.

Our staff (tourist guides and the drivers)are extremely polite and cordial with a long experience in the tourist field hence we guarantee you a very enjoyable and unforgettable vacation in our country. Hospitality is a key word in SriLanka and therefore you can enjoy your vacation in a very friendly atmosphere. We would like to emphasize this factor as it's very important.

During the tour we would cover the following cities.
From Colombo Airport to Pinnawela via Kegalla and to Kandy. Then from kandy via Matale to Dambulla. From Dambulla to Sigiriya and Anuradhapura and back to Dambulla. From Dambulla to Polonnaruwa and back to Kandy via Habarana. From Kandy to Nuwara Eliya and then to Ella. From Ella to Potuvil Arugambay Beach. From Potuwil to Kataragama. From Kataragama to Tangalle via Hambanthota. From Tangalle to Ahangama Palm Garden Resort via Matara.

detailed itinerary

1st Day:
Arrival at the Colombo International Aiport and cordial welcome by our staff.
Depending on the time of arrival, we transfer you to a nearby hotel in case your arrive late in the evening, otherwise we will proceed with our tour programme.
Heading towards Pinnawela, Kandy to visit the Elephant Orphanage. The journey lasts around 3 hours and on the way we stop for tea break.
Here you will see a large herd of elephants (around 70-80) marching towards the nearby river along an array of shops and bathing in group joking with one another, and splashing water a nice scene not to be missed specially for children.
Lunch at the Dear Park Hotel, where you will have a fantastic view of the river, subsequently leaving for the beautiful city of Kandy. Brief visit to Kandy town centre.
Dinner and overnight stay at Kandy Thilanka Hotel.

2nd Day:
After breakfast visiting the famous and one of the largest Botanical Gardens in Asia where you will see an enormous collection of flowers and plants. Break for snacks and beverages. Afterwards visiting the Kandy city centre. Lunch break and brief rest. In the afternoon visiting the sacred Temple of Tooth Relics, most visited and most sacred venue of the country. Here you will see the temple, religious cermonies being conducted inside accompanied by drummers and traditional dancers. At 17.30 going to see the interesting and suggestive Kandyan Cultural Dancing Show. Return to the Hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

3rd Day:
After breakfast heading for Dambulla, famous for its Temple in the rock. The journey lasts around 2 and half hours. After check-in procedure at Pelwehera Resort/Thilanka Resort, visiting the famous Rock Temple (UNESCO Site) where you will see a large collection of Buddhist Monuments in a large cave.
Visiting Dambulla city centre for tea/snacks.
Lunch at the Hotel, afterwards leaving for Anuradhapura. In this city you will visit some of the Buddhist Dagobas. You will notice local pilgrims conducting their religious activities in a candles illuminated atmosphere. This will be an ideal evening visit.
Returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

4th Day:
After breakfast visiting Sigiriya Fortress,a UNESCO site, built on a rock about 200 metres high by an ancient king in order to escape from his brother. The true story behind this will be explained to you by the guide. Here you will see Sigiriya frescoes, royal palace, his gardens, swimming pool etc. and will have a fantastic panoramic view over the surrounding area. Here you can ride on elephants if interested. not included in the package price). Refreshments after climbing down the Sigiriya Rock Fortress and heading towards Polonnaruwa. Lunch break on the way. check-in at Siyanco Hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.

5th Day:
After breakfast visiting the largest Archaeological Site (UNESCO site) in Srilanka. For explanations we provide you with a special guide. Break for refreshments. Afterwards visiting a factory of Sri lankan handicrafts made totally by hand. Here you will be able to see the process of production and a large collection of their products on sale. Lunch at a Restaurant on the way. Returning back to the city of Kandy. Dinner and overnight stay at Senani Hotel, Kandy.

6th Day:
After breakfast heading for hill country, to Ella via Nuwara Eliya. Ella is famous for its heartbreaking panoramic views from an altitude of about 2000 metres. On the way we stop at a leading Tea Factory for a break where you can see the inside of the factory, enjoy a cup of high quality tea and purchase tea of different flavours at their shop. On either side of the street you will find vast tea plantations. At Ella we stop for lunch break. After lunch proceeding to Arugambay Beach. Arugambay, being a fishing village you may surely enjoy a dinner based on quality fresh fish. Overnight stay at a normal hotel,this place being a rural place.

7th Day:
After breakfast you will be able to enjoy a good sea bath in this attractive beach located in the rural village of Pottuwil, in the East coast of SriLanka. This place is also very famous as one of the best surf beaches in the world, hence visited by many tourists who love surfing as a hobby. As a complementary activity you can book a whale watching trip if interested. Lunch in a beach restaurant and after a brief rest heading towards Kataragama another stopover of our tour. Check-in procedure at the hotel and in the evening visiting the Kataragama Hindu kovil premises where you can see ongoing religious ceremonies amidst a large number of pilgrims and devotees. You may also visit a Buddhist temple, and the Kataragama small town centre with stalls full of fruits, handicrafts, and sweet stalls. Dinner and overnight stay at Kataragama Priyankara Hotel.


8th Day:
After breakfast heading towards Tengalle beach through Hambanthota where you will have a look at the newly built artificial Harbour. Arriving at the Tengalle Beach where you can enjoy another sea bath. Lunch at a beach restaurant and brief rest. In the early afternoon heading towards Ahangama Palm Garden Resort where you will stay during your beach holiday. Arriving and dinner at koggala beach hotel buffet. Overnight stay at Palm Garden Resort.

9th Day:
After a rich breakfast at Palm Garden Resort, we get to the fascinating bay of Unawatuna, classified as one of the best beaches in the world. Here you can do sun bathing on the sandy white beach, swimming or snorkeling to watch some corals and colour fish. On the beach there are many restaurants. Lunch break. Return to the Resort for a break after lunch. In the late evening visiting the Galle city where its old Dutch Fortress, city centre etc. Dinner and overnight stay at the Resort.

10th Day:
After breakfast we will do an interesting boat trip in the nearby magnificient Koggala Lake and get to the tiny island where Buddhist monks meditate in complete silence. If you are fortunate enough you may get the possibility to speak to them if interested. After a break for refreshments we may visit a nearby spice garden where you will find a large collection of various spices and some ayurvedic medicine on sale. Lunch and rest at Resort. In the evening going out to Galle city where local handicrafts can be bought at Laksala shop and we will taste a local food called "APPA".
Dinner and overnight stay at the Resort.

11th Day:
After breakfast in the morning, visiting the Unawatuna Beach for sea bathing. Lunch at a beach restaurant. Getting back to the Resort for rest. In the evening we make a visit to
a Turtle Hatchery where different species of small and big turtles are kept and taken care. Dinner is at a Restaurant and overnight stay at the Resort.

12th Day:
This time we would visit another beautiful beach in the area called Mirissa Beach after having breakfast. Lunch will be consumed at a Beach Restaurant and after a brief rest we would proceed to Matara City where you will visit a large Buddhist statue of about 80 feet tall and see many pictures relating to the life of Buddha. At Matara you will enjoy some best quality "curd and trickle" a delicious and nutritious sri lankan food loved by locals. Return back to the Resort having dinner and overnight stay.

13th Day:
After breakfast visiting the Hikkaduwa Tourist village where you can do sea bathing, diving, snorkeling, or simply sun bathing. We offer you lunch at a good quality sea food restaurant. In the evening we suggest a good walk on the Galle Rampart at The Fortress where you can have a nice panoramic view over the city with its natural harbour. Dinner at a restaurant and overnight stay at the Resort.

14th Day:
Going to have the last bath here at this beautiful beach of Unawatuna before departure back to your country. Visiting Galle city in case you need to buy something like tea, spices or merely handicrafts. Lunch at a restaurant and the evening will be dedicated for rest, preparation of luggage in case you have to leave in the evening. Otherwise farewell dinner will be offered by the Resort and the following morning you will be accompanied to the Airport. The hotels selected for accomodation during the tour are good quality three star hotels with a swimming pool and an international/local buffet to give you the maximum possible comfort. the only exception will be at Arugambay, being a rural area we select the best available hotel for you for one night.

During the period of your beach holiday (about one week) you will be accommodated in our Palm Garden Bed and Breakfast Resort, where you will find all the comforts such as air-conditioned bedrooms with European styled wc's, hot water, sattelite tv, unlimited internet, washing machine, electric iron etc., to mention a few.

The price list is as follows.
Package 14 days all inclusive - 840 euro per pax.
Package 10 days all inclusive - 600 euro per pax.
Package 7 days all inclusive - 420 euro per pax.

The package includes the following services:
1. All types of transport.
2. Full board meal supply.
3. Snacks and beverages between principal meals. (alcholic drinks are excluded)
4. All types of accomodation throught the whole travel programme.
5. Entry tickets to UNESCO sites, temples, botanical gardens, cultural shows etc.
6. Tour guide charges.

There is no any extra charges.

Bookings have to be made at least three weeks before the arrival in order to find and arrange suitable hotels for the tour. In order to conform your booking, it our policy to charge the total cost of the package on confirmation.

equipment

As the average temperature is around 28-30 degrees celcius all through the year, you are advised to bring light dresses preferably made of cotton (ex: short sleeved, shirts, shorts, light t-shirts, light shoes preferably open shoes, etc)

Please remember to bring a light jacket and a pair of normal trousers as the temperature in the hill country is around 16-20 degrees. (during the tour we go through the hill country about 2000 metres high.)
